Nicola Roberts – The true fashionista of Girls Aloud

This online blog post is really nice to Nicola, so i thought i would post it for you to read and maybe comment if you agree!

I must confess I am not a big fan of Girls Aloud. In terms of fashion, I think Cheryl Cole is overrated. She would not look half as good as she now does had she not been brainwashed by a stylist when she joined X Factor last year to rid her of her ingrained chaviness. I believe Sarah Harding struggles to pull any look off with class and elegance, and I find it difficult to tell Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle apart, owing to their matching hair extensions and perma-tanned skin.

The only redeeming thing about the group, in my humble opinion, is Nicola Roberts. Yes, the redhead who Chris Moyles once so irritatingly labelled “the ugly one” is my favourite. I love her unique style and the fact that she proactively goes against the grain of the traditional sex symbol look.

Granted, most guys in the country wouldn’t pass up a date with Cheryl and co, but that is exactly my point. You can dress them up in Dior, Versace and Louis Vuitton, but they still look like girls you would expect to see working in your local chip shop. Nicola, on the other hand, is different.

She is not afraid to don her beautiful pale and non-tangoed skin in vintage shift dresses and daring retro prints. She makes a conscious effort to stand out from the crowd and as a result appears more Vogue high fashion than FHM high street honey.

Although one tiny criticism I have of Nicola is that she ought to tone down her head-to-toe Chanel addiction. We all love a bit of Coco, but as with everything else, only in moderation. She was recently pictured in a cardigan, skirt, tights, shoes, bag and umbrella- all by Chanel! If she tones it down just a tad, she will continue to trump her fake baked bandmates.

Ladies, use Nicola as a cautionary tale – mix and match your labels while going against the grain. And remember to be an individual!
Which member of Girls Aloud is your favourite stylista?
