But the singer hadn’t seen a ghost – instead it was the trouble of climbing out her car in high heels, juggling a designer handbag and bouquet of lilies, which had unnerved her. The 24-year-old had just performed onstage at Wembley with her Girls Aloud bandmates, supporting Coldplay and Jay Z. Last night’s show was a reunion for the singers, who are enjoying a year off to pursue other projects. ‘We’ve had the summer off. I’ve been in St Tropez for three weeks, I’ve sunned myself, I’ve had a blowout with my friends from Liverpool, and I’m ready to get back on stage now,’ she said. But she insisted that the group weren’t going to change their show to appeal to Coldplay’s fans. ‘Coldplay asked us to do the gig because they like what we do,’ she told BBC Radio 5 live. Last week the redhead showed her good-humoured side when she turned up to pick up an ‘award’ from website Popjustice. The site runs its own alternative to the Mercury Music Prize, for which Girls Aloud were given a £20 prize for Single Of The Year. She told the BBC: ‘It was so interesting to hear people thrash out opinions on all the other bands and other songs – as daunting as it was. ‘But the best song won in the end.’ All of the girls are currently rehearsing ahead of their appearance at Wembley this weekend, where they are supporting Coldplay. No change for Girls Aloud’s Coldplay setPop stars Girls Aloud say they will not make any concessions to rock fans when they support Coldplay at Wembley Stadium this weekend. “Coldplay asked us to do the gig because they like what we do,” singer Nicola Roberts told BBC Radio 5 live. “So for us to turn around and scrap a few songs and do a few covers to try and please the crowd – that’s not what Girls Aloud are about at all.” The 24-year-old added that the band “can’t wait” to play at Wembley. “We’ve had the summer off. With her wide eyes and startled expression, it seemed something had shocked Nicola Roberts last night.
Nicola Roberts, who turns 24 next month, arrived at a studio yesterday looking slightly glum in a wooly, grey jacket and skin-tight black vest top.
