Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts is following in the footsteps of bandmate Cheryl Cole by landing her own TV show.

But unlike Chezza’s light entertainment fodder, Nic’s new programme will be ultra-serious.

She is shedding light on the dangerous world of “tanorexics” – women who are addicted to tanning products. The term – coined from anorexia – applies to sufferers who constantly think they look too pale.

Nicola, who battled the condition it in the past, will lift the lid on the issue in a BBC3 film.

The star, 24, has previously admitted: “I tried to cover up my insecurities by turning into a big-time tanorexic.

“I had every product from every range. It filled a shelf in my bathroom and no matter how exhausted I was, I needed my fix.”
