Cheryl: “Nicola deserved more success for debut album”

Cheryl Cole has claimed that her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts deserved more success for her debut album.

Roberts released her first solo album Cinderella’s Eyes last September and, despite a positive critical response, it reached number 17 on the UK chart.

“I think Nicola’s album was a great album and very, very reflective of her personality,” Cheryl told Attitude magazine.

“And she’s a perfectionist as well; she would have gone in, changed words. We have a very different technique in recording.

“This was her first. I’ve already had two albums, so that build-up has been a while. She was ready to let loose and that’s exactly what she did, it was perfect.”

Cheryl added: “Her album didn’t get enough recognition for my liking. I was trying to get her to write one for my record, actually, but she didn’t have time for us!”

Cheryl will release her new single ‘Call My Name’ on June 10, while her third studio album A Million Lights will follow on June 18.
