Move over, Cheryl, another Girls Aloud member has stolen your style crown and has been bagging front row seats at the hottest fashion shows. 2009 has seen the fash pack fall at Nic’s feet. Fellow flame-haired fashionista Vivienne Westwood personally invited her to her S/S Anglomania show, while edgy designers Preen, Issa and J Mendel queue up to dress her. Not bad for the singer who once branded herself “the ugly one” of the group. Nicola now oozes confidence and after the year she’s had, it’s easy to understand why. Finding love with barman Charlie Fennell, buying a £2million mansion in Kent, rocking the nation on Girls Aloud’s 29-date Out Of Control tour and rumours that she’s landed her own BBC beauty show, all add up to a spectacular year for the pop princess. Ginger style goddess Nicola Roberts has slammed “celebrity fashion designers” like Lily Allen, 24, and Peaches Geldof, 20, saying she would be more creative if she had her own range. The fiery fashion minx, 24, told us: “It’s something I would love to delve into, but I would have to be hands-on. “As long as I was being creative and people were saying ‘This is actually good’. “It’s something I’m interested in but I wouldn’t necessarily do a celebrity range, I’m not really about that.” Nicola attends Anglomania by Vivienne Westwood
Last night, Nicola attended a fashion show called ‘Anglomania by Vivienne Westwood’. It was held at Selfridges in London. She explained: “I’m just a girl who loves fashion. I’m obsessed to the point of having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder about clothes. If I walk out of the house and I’m not happy in an outfit, it can ruin my day. I have to change.” The 24-year-old singer – who has her own make-up range called Dainty Doll – added her style is constantly evolving, and she doesn’t mind if she occasionally gets looks wrong. She told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “I’ve got completely immersed in this world of fashion. I’m looking at it, reading about it, talking about it. I’m finding my way, finding my style and whatever anyone else thinks I’m really enjoying myself. “I’ve discovered this passion for 40s and 50s clothes and a fascination for all these up-and-coming designers. What was so important that Nicola Roberts needed to text her friends as she sat in the front row at Paris Fashion Week? This week we spotted the style icons wearing the hottest buys to hit the Topshop rails. Nicola Roberts took a stroll around London with her boyfriend, Charlie Fennell, sporting the trophy jacket we’ve all lusted over here at Look. The Girls Aloud star teamed her £180 gold embellished number with a plain vest and jeans combo. VV Brown was the next celebrity to show off her Topshop purchase, as she was snapped out and about in London, showing off her £115 Topshop jacket. The pair rubbed shoulders during the SHOWStudio exhibition at Somerset House and Naomi, 39, was struck by her unique look. And when event organisers told her the redhead was a pop star, rather than a runway-strutting model, she looked aghast. While pretty Nic is wowing fashionistas, her boyfriend Charlie Fennell isn’t so taken with the fashion world. He prefers to sink cocktails at the May Fair hotel rather than rocking the swanky bashes.
