My body and I: Nicola Roberts

body and i nicola robertsThe Girls Aloud star, 25, lives in Surrey with her boyfriend Charlie Fennell and their two pugs, Ronnie and Reggie

What’s your daily beauty routine?

I cleanse morning and evening with Eve Lom Cleanser and also use her muslin cloths to exfoliate. Then I use Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum which tightens up my skin and provides a lovely base for foundation. I don’t use body moisturiser as I slather on Johnson’s Baby Oil in the shower. It keeps my skin silky and smooth all day long – it’s amazing.

Your desert-island beauty essential?

Dainty Doll Wonderbalm from my own range – it’s a brilliant multitasker. I use it on my eyelashes, eyebrows and lips – anywhere that needs a bit of nourishment as it’s full of vitamins A and E.

Your make-up bag staples?

Dainty Doll Loose Mineral Powder Foundation, Hot Pour Concealer and Lipstick in Couture. The range is for pale skin like mine so it’s all I use. The lipstick is really, really dark, almost a blood red – it’s sophisticated but with a rocky edge.

What makes you feel glamorous?

If I’m going out I slather Benefit’s Bathina body balm on my legs and shoulders. It gives them a gorgeous, glamorous glow.

Roberts has designs on shoe range

nicola shoe rangeNicola Roberts has revealed that she fancies trying her hand as a shoe designer.

Speaking at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year awards, the Girls Aloud star said she took her make-up range very seriously and that she’d like to try something “fun” .

She said: “The make-up range pretty much takes up a lot of the time at the moment. We just launched and now I’m working on stuff we’re going to launch for spring, so it’s a constant roll-out.

“I feel like I take that far too seriously. I’d love to do something like shoes, something really fun and something not too serious.”

But Nicola added: “I feel like a fashion collection is something to take very seriously and you can’t just take it for granted.”

The singer – who launched her own make-up range for pale skin this year – was named Ultimate Fashionista at the Cosmo bash.

Her bandmate Kimberley Walsh also attended the event, as she was on a panel of celebrity judges who selected the winners of the awards recognising the bravery and achievements of the nation’s non-celebrity women.

Interview with Nicola Roberts about Dainty Doll

cheryl coleSky Showbiz catch up with Nicola Roberts as she tells us why she wouldn’t mind being stuck on a desert island with Cheryl Cole.

As Nicola launches her new Dainty Doll cosmetics line, we quiz the singer about the range.

And she even reveals her top fashion and beauty secrets.

What inspired you to start your own make-up line?
‘Seeing that no other brand on the market cater for paler skinned women really frustrated me. Having to use three or four different products to try and come up with a shade close to my skin tone was very time-consuming. I think it says it all when your make-up artist presents you with anexcited face, holding white face paint she’s imported from Japan!”

What’s new about the latest range?
“I have reformulated the whole line and brought as much common sense to the products as possible, giving woman of today something they need. For example my concealer “Abracadabra” has an anti-inflammatory inside. The formulation is predominantly natural and contains an anti-inflammatory – a must for anyone, including me, who has to deal with naughty skin.”

Who is your beauty icon?
“Gwen Stefani is my beauty icon, she is always so polished and her make up is just perfectly placed every time. Not fair!”

Your top beauty secret?
“My top beauty secret is my Dainty Doll Wonder Balm. There is nothing better at the end of a long day, maybe after a shoot, than coming home, washing your make-up off and applying the wonder balm. It’s enriched with Vitamin A, so nourishes and heals your skin.

I use it on my lips and all over my eyes to nourish my lashes and eyebrows. It’s a great soother and you can also use it over the top of your make-up for that fresh dewy look or to correct mistakes.”
